WAP Information


The Workforce Approval Process (WAP) is to ensure a comprehensive review prior to the approval of requests to change the workforce or establishment.

Please note that a full list of all WAP submission deadlines for 2021 can be downloaded on the right hand side.

All completed WAP forms must be sent to the HR inbox at nclccg.nclworkforce@nhs.net 

For further information regarding WAP forms, please refer to the FAQs below.

Reminders:

  • If forms are not sent to the HR inbox at by 12pm on the date of the WAP submission deadline, they will automatically be considered at the next relevant panel.
    Example: If a form is sent to the HR inbox on 8 January, it will be considered by the panel on 21 January.
  • Incomplete forms sent to the HR inbox will not be submitted to the panel until a complete form is received.
  • Any forms received for new positions that have not undergone job matching will not be sent to the panel until they have been job matched by the relevant HR Business Partner and Staff Side representative.
  • It is the responsibility of line managers (not HR) to forward approved WAP forms to either payroll or recruitment. Please follow the instructions on the approval e-mail.
  • Please ensure start dates on WAP forms are correct. For extensions, the start date on the WAP form should be the day AFTER the current contract ends.
    Example: If a contract is due to end on 31/01/2021 then the start date on the WAP form should be 01/02/2021.

 

1. What is a WAP?

The Workforce Approval Process (WAP) is to ensure a comprehensive review prior to the approval of requests to change the workforce or establishment.

2. What are the reasons that I would need a WAP form for?

There are a number of reasons you would require a WAP form. The broad reasons are:

  • Extending a contract
  • Engaging new staff
  • Notifying of extended leave or career break
  • Changes to an assignment

3. Where can I find a WAP form?

WAP forms can be downloaded from the forms section on the Intranet and in the downloads section on this page.

4. Where do I submit my WAP form once complete?

WAP forms should be sent to the HR team: nclccg.nclworkforce@nhs.net

5. Who should I contact if I have a query regarding WAP forms?
