Carers Week 6-12 June

Did you know that the CCG’s Disability Network is actually the Carers, Disability and Long-Term Conditions Staff Network? The Network raises awareness of disability issues, changing perceptions so that our staff and our residents and patients are seen as ‘differently-abled’ rather than disabled. We also support all staff with long-term conditions and those with caring responsibilities. We recognise that caring responsibilities can take many forms and we include staff with such responsibilities, where a formal diagnosis has not yet been confirmed.

This year Carers Week will run from 6-12 June. Carers Week is an annual campaign to help raise awareness of caring, to highlight the challenges that unpaid carers face and to recognise the contribution they make to families and communities. It’s also an opportunity to help people who don’t think of themselves as having caring responsibilities to identify as carers and to access much-needed support.

To celebrate Carers Week and to help raise awareness, the Carers, Disability and Long-Term Conditions Staff Network will be hosting the following events and offering safe space conversations and confidential surgeries throughout the week.

  • Join us on Tuesday 7 June at 1.30pm for the launch of the CCG’s Workplace Adjustment Passport. We will be joined by Emdad Haque, our Senior Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Manager, and HR colleagues. Come along to learn about the passport and have the opportunity to ask questions. This event will be repeated on Friday 10 June at 1.30pm for staff unable to attend the launch.
  • There will be a safe space conversation for staff with caring responsibilities on Tuesday 7 June at 3pm. This is a small group conversation where colleagues can come together to share their lived experiences. The group set their own ground rules, based on which the conversation is facilitated. Click here to join the meeting.
  • On Thursday 9 June from 12.00 – 12.30pm we are holding a confidential surgery. If you would like to talk in confidence with someone from the network, to raise an issue or ask for advice, please email or

There will be a number of events held across North Central London as part of Carers Week, which can be found on our website.
