Camden Council extends fostering recommendation scheme

Camden Council has recently extended its fostering recommendation scheme to staff working for local NHS partners. A £900 incentive will be paid, if the person you recommend goes on to be approved as a foster carer. The £900 is a one-off payment made direct to the person who has made the recommendation, once the foster carer has been approved.

Recommendations can be anyone, including family and friends and current foster carers who would like to transfer to Camden. The recommended foster carer can live outside the borough, as many Camden looked after children are cared for outside the borough.

Recommend someone to become a Camden foster carer and receive a one-off payment of £900, tax-free, once they are approved. If members of staff have any recommendations or further questions, please contact Lauren Crawley via email: lauren.crawley@camden.gov.uk.

Background information

Fostering is providing a safe and secure home for vulnerable babies, children and young people who are unable to be at home with their own families. Sometimes this is for a few nights and sometimes for a few years. There are lots of different types of fostering.

Every 20 minutes in the UK a child comes into care, often from very challenging circumstances where they might have experienced abuse or neglect. Other times there might have been family illness, a breakdown in relationships, or a young person may have arrived unaccompanied from abroad.

In Camden, we need more Londoners who are willing to open their homes and their hearts to welcome in our vulnerable children and provide them with care, stability and consistency.
