Being an NHS employee entitles you to certain benefits. We’ve listed some highlights below, but it’s always worth asking about NHS discounts, whether you’re buying a coffee or a holiday.
Discounts online and on the high street
Not every deal is listed on discount sites, so asking the company or researching online for ‘NHS discounts’ or ‘public sector discounts’ is advised. However, two of the most popular sites are Health Service Discounts and NHS Staff Benefits. Free registration will allow you to use promotional codes. To register, simply enter your CCG email address and enter ‘NHS North Central London CCG’ when prompted for your organisation.
Staff can also register for a Blue Light Card. This is a discount service for the emergency services, NHS, social care sector and armed forces, which provides members with thousands of discounts online and on the high street. Registration costs £4.99, and members get access to more than 15,000 discounts from large national retailers to local businesses.
NHS staff can enjoy 10% off at Pets at Home – you’ll just need to show your staff badge at the checkout. Details and T&Cs are available on the Pets at Home website.
Your NHS ID badge can often secure discounts in store with local businesses and big brands.
Free HSJ subscription for CCG staff
We would like to remind staff that a subscription to the Health Service Journal (HSJ) is free for all staff. If you would like to subscribe please email communications: email@example.com
Due to changes introduced by the government, the childcare voucher scheme is only applicable to existing staff members who are already using it.
Instead, a government tax-free childcare scheme is now available where eligible people can get up to £500 every 3 months (up to £2,000 a year) for each of their children to help with the costs of childcare. This goes up to £1,000 every 3 months if a child is disabled (up to £4,000 a year).
Information about tax-free childcare is available on the Government’s website.
Airport parking discount for NHS staff (plus family and friends)
NHS staff (plus family and friends) can enjoy 13% discount on airport parking across the UK
